I met Steve in 2009. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about tone and amps that I was quickly intrigued about what "my" true sound was. I finished touring Spain in 2001 playing through a zoom multi effects pedal, whammy and a rat pedal. The amp was an engle 50 watt combo single Chanel. Since meeting Steve in 2009, I've owned 4 tube amps (AC 30 style 4 x el84, blackface Deluxe reverb style, a 1950's rebuild Bogen amp modelled after a JTM45 Marshall circuit. My main rig is my very own custom designed 15 watt amp with 2 6SL7's in the front end. It has a very unique feature that allows the tremolo's speed to be modified via volume pedal).
Steve has also designed my own unique distortion / overdrive pedal. I also use his "Fuzz-atto" fuzz pedal, his ring modulator, and his compressor.
The main differentiating factor with the Moratto Amp Shop is that Steve really understands the true factors that affect one's tone given that he is a talented guitarist himself. He also has a profound knowledge of all the significant vintage amps throughout history that have aided the guitar's rise to becoming the worlds most popular instrument. Giving Steve a chance at understanding your desired tone could be the best thing you ever do (gear/tone wise).

The best way to describe Steve's amp service would be to say: "your dream tone can become a reality, if you know what you want". Whether it's a new build, modification or a custom concept, Steve is up for the task.

I've seen Steve build amps in suit cases, vintage radio cabinets and vintage electric chicken fence controllers just to name a few. On the technical side of the tube amp world, Steve doesn't disappoint...
